Claire B. Schoonover, M.A.

Claire B. Schoonover, a Vice President of National Analysts Worldwide, is a medical sociologist specializing in health care and pharmaceutical marketing. Her academic training in both qualitative and quantitative analysis and her expertise in the cultural drivers of healthcare delivery have been the foundation for hundreds of client assignments on a wide array of healthcare marketing questions and problems.

An exceptionally adept qualitative moderator, Claire has conducted countless in-person and group interviews with physicians, nurses, consumers, and managed care and other healthcare executives on issues such as product positioning, communications strategies and corporate image. She is also a skilled quantitative researcher who routinely designs and oversees complex, large-scale assignments in support of product forecasting, pricing and positioning strategy, clinical trials design and market segmentation.

Given the focus of her academic career, Claire is often called upon to assist clients in developing insights from both the patient and physician perspective to help guide development of integrated forecast and other models that effectively reflect physician-patient interactions in today's increasingly "democratic" marketing environment. While her background spans almost every therapeutic category, including biologic therapies and oncology drugs, areas in which she has particular experience include obesity, musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory conditions, GI disorders and CNS (including MS, Parkinson's, epilepsy, sleep disorders, migraine and other pain states).

Prior to joining the firm, Claire was a Project Director at the Gerontological Research Institute of Philadelphia, responsible for government-sponsored research on the social impact of the aging U.S. population, and her research has been published in refereed gerontological journals.

Claire completed course requirements for a Ph.D. in Medical Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. She holds an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. with Honors from the University of Maryland.
